I booked a room in Lisbon, attracted by the description that it had been renovated four years ago. However, when I visited the room for the first time on the day I received the key, I discovered that the kitchen and bathrooms had not been renovated. On the contrary, several taps were leaking and the sinks and bathtub were rusted. The landlord made no mention of the leaks until I pointed them out. I found that this landlord hid the unpleasant aspects of the apartment, gave inaccurate and inadequate information to the users. I also noticed that despite similar problems in the past, Uniplaces did nothing to encourage landlords to improve the situation, change the description or stop the listing.
We reported this as misrepresented Accommodation, but undiplaces will not accept any refund, and they said that the photos does not differ from the actual apartment. I also asked several times for an explanation of what exactly Uniplaces can do to the landlord, because I am concerned that the situation has not improved despite similar problems having already been reported in the past. However they only said that they will ask the landlord to improve the situation if the booking is to continue and they did not answer my questions.
The landlord is also used to tenants finding the bad condition of the apartment, which is different from what is advertised, and deciding to move out immediately. He did not explain why problems remain unresolved, or why he hid the fact that the kitchen and bathrooms were not renovated. He has never explained why he had only published photos that do not show the old rusty sinks and bathtub. He only said that they will not refund the money.
In fact, just over 24 hours after booking, I realised that the apartment had been criticised by several previous users and wanted to cancel, but gave up because I could not get a refund due to the cancellation policies. However, I found a complaint that uniplaces had received in the past. The user pointed out that the policies are illegal because they violate the right to a 14-day cooling-off period that the law guarantees to users, and Uniplaces made a refund. Why has Uniplaces not changed the cancellation policies, even though they know those are illegal?

As in their case, my booking was made more than 30 days before the move-in date. Considering this case, I have missed the opportunity to cancel and have been unnecessarily disadvantaged by uniplaces' unfair policies that are against the law. My contact with uniplaces has defects in the first place.
Finally, I still don't accept the series of services and answers from uniplaces and I plan to consult a legal professional, but I demand a cancellation because I cannot live in the apartment safely. I have sent a message to Uniplaces three times in the last week and this week but I have not received a reply.
