Dear Ladies and Gentlemen
On February 11th, 2021, I underwent a colonoscopy authorised by Medis Insurance at their clinic in Alvor.
After your employee, Mr. Carlos Alberto Conceicao Brito, presented me with the bill of € 646.50 - only 10 minutes after waking up from a general anaesthetic - I pointed out to him that the colonoscopy had been pre-authorised by Medis and that I would only have to pay the costs of € 31.50 myself.
He explained to me that Medis would reimburse me the cost of the pathological examination in the amount of € 615.00 and that I only had to send the invoice to Medis (see attached invoice with service circled in pen by your employee which I will be reimbursed).
In the meantime, Medis refunded me a share of € 215.25 and told me that I would have to pay the rest of € 399.75 myself, as the laboratory is not in their network.
If I had been properly informed by your employee, I would not have asked for this examination and would not have paid the amount of € 615.00.
The information given by your employee is not true and not fair, and contradicts your hospital's own guidelines.
I hope that you will not force me to pursue this unpleasant story any further and I expect a proposal for a solution from you in the next few days.
